I’ve mentioned before that as an only child, I come from a pretty small family. I love photographing extended family sessions because I get to see the opposite side of what I grew up with. The Greers are a huge family with five adult siblings and more grandkids than I could count! With two siblings living out of state it takes some intentionality to bring everyone together. Even with the masterful planning this family did we still were missing a couple family members. But, we still had a blast together for this Downtown Hampton extended family shoot!
This was by far my largest family session to date, with the most kiddos involved! And I don’t mind telling you, my face hurt when I left them from laughing so hard. This is a FUN bunch who love to laugh and be silly together! Between Sunday School and AWANA, I’ve had the privilege to teach four of these kiddos, and it was such a joy to get to know the rest of the kids.
Greer family, thank you for spending your morning with me! I pray you all had as much fun as I did and got to enjoy the carousel opening! Enjoy the photos!
Typically when I photograph kids the parents are behind me doing all manner of silly things to elicit smiles. Today the roles were reversed and the KIDS were doing silly things to make the PARENTS smile!
One of my favorite games to play at sessions, especially with big families like this one, is called Run to Me. I have everyone line up so we can get one last big group shot, and then I count to three so the kids can run! This time we kept the game a secret from the grown-ups, and I think I like that better. It’s always so fun when the kids take off running!
