Somehow I never hit publish on this beautiful girl’s newborn photos! So even though we have firmly entered into spring, I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to share these incredible winter newborn photos.
The week between Christmas and New Year’s always feels extra quiet and slow to me. Not a lot gets done, there’s the running joke that no one quite knows what day it is, and everyone is winding down from the Christmas excitement. I’ve found there’s a similar feeling in the weeks following the birth of your first child. No one is sleeping so no one knows what day it is, there’s a definite mental fog, and everyone is winding down from the excitement of bringing that new life into the world. It was the perfect time to capture sweet Lucy’s winter newborn photos.
Amanda and Steven welcomed me into their home on a gray day at the end of December. We had a cozy morning feeding Lucy, trying Lucy in various Christmas outfits, and marveling at this beautiful new person.
I always love newborn sessions because of how relaxed the time feels. The new parents are able to step back a bit as I direct the session and everyone settles into this sense of calm.
Amanda painted and refurbished that dresser!
I love the whimsical wall decorations Amanda put in the nursery!
