When you’ve been in business for 13 years, you can start to get into a groove of how things “should” work. I had it in my head that the only in-home sessions available were newborn sessions, but boy was I missing out! Lindsay and I started emailing back and forth last fall. For various reasons we had to reschedule a couple of times, and by the time we narrowed down a date it was FREEZING! Lindsay asked if we could do their family session at home and I am beyond thrilled I said yes!
Almost as soon as I walked in the house, I could tell this was a family who loves fiercely and fully. Oh, and they never miss an opportunity to laugh. It didn’t matter if we were talking, reliving family memories, or watching the cats – someone was always laughing!
We had the best morning together. They played a game of Uno, cuddled with some books and even took a coffee break! I loved the opportunity to see this family in their element. My favorite thing about my job has always been to capture those candid in-between moments. Often those moments can take some very intentional detective work if families are nervous in front of the camera. Being at home helped eliminate some of that nervous energy, and everyone was free to focus on each other.
Lindsay and Mike, thank you for sharing your sweet family with me! And thank you for not only welcoming me into your home, but also opening my eyes to a fantastic new way of capturing these precious family memories! Enjoy the photos of your family session at home 🙂
Raise your hand if you’d like to take a coffee break in the middle of your photo shoot!
